With a mother that was a Dental Hygienist, I spent much of my late childhood and adolescent years dreaming of becoming a Dentist. After going to college, I quickly decided that working in patients’ mouths every day wasn’t for me after all. I knew immediately that nursing was the career path for me after touring Baker’s Nursing School in Topeka, also my hometown. During my undergraduate, my clinical experiences continued to reaffirm that nursing was exactly what I was meant to do. I particularly enjoyed my pediatric rotations.

After nursing school, I worked at Children’s Mercy in the Emergency Department and truly loved being a pediatric emergency nurse. In 2018, I graduated from Maryville University with my Doctorate in Nursing Practice as a Family Nurse Practitioner. After graduating I continued to work at Children’s Mercy in the Emergency Department and Neurology Clinic as a nurse practitioner for 4.5 years. My favorite part of my role as a nurse practitioner is empowering parents/caregivers to feel confident in caring for their children.

My husband and I are blessed with a d
aughter. Being a mother has been the best gift and has given me a whole new perspective as a provider. I am excited to be a part of Shawnee Mission Pediatrics and look forward to meeting you all!
